Abstract
One of the main findings of the study is that there is a food gap between production and consumption in the grain group. This is because the average annual increase in food consumption of 2.4% As for the legume group, which includes (municipal beans, lentils), there was an annual increase in the size of the food gap and imports due to the severe decrease in production, To increase the annual rate of increase in the local production of sugar as a quantity in national food consumption. The food gap for sugar cane is estimated at about 638 thousand tons with an annual increase rate of about 5%. The total Vegetable oil, is estimated at 689 thousand tons (Vegetable oil, maize, sunflower oil) showed an increase in the size of the food gap. The average per capita of the Egyptian population exceeded the world average during the study period in cereals, legumes, sugar and oils. Of the world average gain per capita during the study period between 164% and 173%, while the percentage of pulses ranged between 76% and 15%, while in the sugar group ranged between 104% and 132%, and ranged in oils between 96% 138%. The analysis of the development of the Egyptian agricultural trade balance showed that there was a deficit in agricultural trade balance of about $ 5.6 billion as an average for the period 2001-2015, which means carrying the burden of providing hard currency from other sources or The external accumulation of the Bureau, representing about 64.6% of the value of imports to provide agricultural crops to meet the need of domestic demand. The main factors affecting the food gap were the quantity of imports Ton, where the correlation coefficient for wheat, wild beans, lentils, sunflower oil, maize oil and soybean oil was 0.90, 0.76, 0.77, 0.71, 0.99 and 0.91 respectively. The coefficient of correlation between the values of imports the total value of subsidies amounted to LE 84.94 billion. The average value of subsidized goods amounted to LE 20.67 billion, while the average per capita share of total subsidy was 269.7 pounds / person during the study period (2001-2015).
